Doctor Wombat's Laboratory is a one man indie games studio. I produce retro styled video games inspired by gaming systems of old.
One of my fondest memories growing up is my trusty Commodore 64.
Like all parents in that era, my dad bought it to manage the household
finances, and perhaps hopefully give me an electronic platform for me
to do my homework on when I was old enough. Neither of these things
came to pass and the C64 quickly turned into my first gaming system.
I was still playing with it well into high school, eagerly
awaiting the day my Commodore Format magazine dropped through my front
door, complete with the cassette packed with games.
I've never
lost that love for my little brown computer. It's still in my dad's
loft. Still working perfectly, with a pile of games and peripherals that
easily weighs as much as me! It really is a treasure.
When I
realised I wanted to make video games for a living, there really was
only one way to go. Make things inspired by the crunchy pixels and
bleepy music.
Simple concepts, dragged into the 21st Century for your delectation.
